Tabernacle Cemetery (Waukesha)

Tabernacle Cemetery

The story behind this place was that a boy accidentally hung himself while working in a nearby barn and he was the first person buried in this cemetery. People have reported seeing an apparition of a man near a tree. Bright flashes of light have been observed near a fence around the perimeter of the cemetery. Supposedly, light from a phantom vehicle will shine on you at night and follow your car out of the area.

This was a pretty neat cemetery. It is very small. As you approach it you pass a farm that appears to have a relatively old barn on the property which might be the barn mentioned in the story.

I think this was the tree where people have seen the ghost of a man. It had grown near an old headstone and had pushed it around.

Here was a new edition to the graveyard. I combed the area and could not find any evidence that the corpse had been coming and going from the grave.

One of my favorite monuments in the cemetery. It was old and tall.

I just came home from there. My friend said he heard children playing, I did not. We both saw a buck (nice looking one) enter the graveyard. The lights of the truck are real as they are from the caretaker who watches for vandalism. He will call the police or chase people away. I have been there twice and dis not see anything. The first time was years ago, and I was chased by the truck. Lol

I remember this cemetery from over 30 years ago. You think it looks spooky now? You should've seen it back then; it had black iron fencing going around the front of it giving it a traditional horror movie look. It was pretty cool. As far as that tree pushing the top of that headstone goes, my take on it is that tree was planted there in honor of the person who was buried there but whoever planted it did not take into account mature growth.

We were out there a few times at night to take pictures but we didn't stay long. We didn't want to stick around long enough for someone to call the sheriff's department. The first time we went we were able to take a few pictures and didn't discover anything out of the ordinary, but the second time there was a black SUV (like a newer Tahoe) that had pulled up shortly after we got out of the car and they just parked in front of us. We took our pictures, and got back in the car and left. At first we thought it was an unmarked sheriff's vehicle but they didn't activate any emergency lights and they didn't confront us. We left, came back about 20 minutes later, and they were still there. We left again, and came back another 10 minutes later and passed the vehicle as they pulled away. We got out, took a few more pictures, and packed up for the night. Anyone else seen this SUV? It wasn't a pickup truck like everyone describes, I know that for a fact.

That cemetery has had problems with vandals in the past so maybe it was a sheriff that was following you, especially if you were there at night during the weekend.

The farm your all referring to is my Godparents fathers. Now I'm sure his daughters have taken over. They're very sweet honest people I don't know why anyone would vandalize their farm.
